Happy Valentines Day 2019!
It's that time of year where we all have an excuse to wear more pink and red because apparently some people need an excuse? If you're like me, and you don't wear pink often, it almost forces me to pull out my pink items and let them shine!
This year I put together *two* different Valentines Day looks:
1. Be Chill My Heart - a winter-inspired Valentines look. Perfect for those states who still have some (or a lot) of snow on the ground over Valentines Day.
3. Let's get some food, baby - a fun, playful Valentines look, perfect for a day out. I paired it with sneakers, but it could easily be paired with a cute pair of boots or Doc Martens.
These are just a couple of looks that I hope inspire your Valentines Day outfit! Make sure to follow me on Instagram and tag me in your outfits so I can see and share it on my Insta Stories!
For those of us dealing with cold weather on Valentines Day, this look is a perfect layout for really any cute date outfit in the cold.
Start with a base: a neutral color turtleneck (like black or white) and then layer anything from a sweater, tank top, or over-sized tee over it (or wear it as-is tucked into jeans!). I chose a white turtleneck, since it's closer to spring and paired better with this shade of pink/purple, and then layered it with my *only* pink sweater.
This is a sweater I found in Target last year that I just couldn't resist. I don't have many pink items in my wardrobe, so this is a special item that I break out for certain occasions. It's a beautiful shade of stone-pink and the ruffles on the sleeves are so flirty and perfect for Valentines Day!
I then added some simple accessories to add some detail. I had my hair gathered and clipped in the back, so I went with chunkier gold earrings (a gift from family) and a simple blush pink purse with gold accents. The color of the purse is a great neutral shade of pink, that I just loved the combination of with the stone-pink/purple of the sweater.
I love the look of monotone-colored outfits, but with different shades of the color. I would love to try to do a look book of full monotone-colored outfits for spring, let me know in the comments if that's something you'd be interested in seeing!
For shoes, I paired a pair of white/grey grid socks with my Doc Martens (style is Church Vintage). I received these from my mother-in-law for Christmas and I literally have worn them almost everyday. It was/is hard to not wear them with every outfit!
The white/grey socks help to balance the white of the turtleneck, while the gold stitching of the Doc Marten's ties together the gold accents of the earrings and the purse.
Overall, this is an adorable outfit that can be worn any chilly day of Spring! But it's fun to focus on bringing some pinks together in a flirty, cute way and pairing it with a classic like gold.
This outfit can also be pair with an over-sized jean jacket (either denim or black) and a scarf to be a bit warmer. The purse also came with a shoulder strap, so that can be added as well, if you prefer it as a shoulder bag. I thought it looked cuter as a little box purse, and since it can sit up on it's own, it wouldn't be an issue setting on a table.
Let's get some food, baby! The perfect outfit for a Valentines day out when you want to be fun and flirty with it! The main piece for this outfit is my "Food Baby" shirt from Lazy Oaf. I felt the colors were great for Valentines Day, but also not super feminine for someone who's not super girly.
I loved not only the playfulness of the colors, but also the saying on the front. The saying "Food Baby" could mean a lot of things, if you were pregnant (I'm not) it could be playful that way or I wore this shirt to a friend's baby shower, so it's a great piece for a lot of occasions! In this case, I flipped to grabbing some food, baby! Because let's face it, that's really the point of leaving the house, right?
I paired the Lazy Oaf t-shirt with simple, high-waisted black jeans and an over-sized denim jacket. This jacket I will actually be adding some patches to, so be on the lookout for that in the future! I then paired it with the same purse as the first outfit, but I pulled out the shoulder strap it came with to wear over the shoulder.
I wanted this outfit to be fun and cute, but also functional and comfy! If you're going to go out and spend the day walking around somewhere, you want to be comfortable and not have to worry about your outfit.
I also paired the outfit with some rose gold sneakers and some fun purple/yellow/blue Arizona sunset socks. You can't really see what's on the socks, but the colors sort of tied back to the shirt, so I opted for those, rather then simple, plain socks.
To finish the look, I put my hair half up and secured it with a black scrunchie. I wanted it to help tie back to the neutral colors and fabrics of the black jeans and denim jacket, but in a fun, playful way. I also curled my hair a bit to give it more texture and movement.
It's harder to see, but I also added some green eye shadow to my eye look, because I had a green eye shadow that matched the green in the shirt really well! I wanted to be really playful and colorful with this look (have I mentioned that yet??), so I tried to play around with colors, without going overboard.
This look was much more difficult for me to put together, since there were a lot more colors, but overall I'm really happy with how it came out! From the sneaks to my hair, I was feeling really playful and fun in this outfit!
That's it for my first lookbook and blog post! Let me know what you think and don't forget to tag me in your Valentines Day looks on Instagram! Also, leave a comment below of your favorite piece from this outfit and other lookbooks you're interested in seeing!
